Chery South Africa introduces the new Tiggo 8 APEX I with enhanced design, comfort and safety

• The new Tiggo 8 APEX I introduces a redesigned exterior and interior, including LED lighting, 19-inch alloy wheels and a dual-screen digital cockpit.

Chery South Africa is expanding its Tiggo SUV offering with the introduction of the new Tiggo 8 APEX I, a comprehensively updated variant combining a fresh design with enhanced safety, comfort and connectivity.

Power comes from Chery’s turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine, producing 137 kW and 275 N.m of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. With combined fuel consumption of 7.7 L/100 km on the WLTP cycle and a 57-litre fuel tank, the Tiggo 8 APEX I offers a theoretical range of approximately 740 km between refuelling stops.

The new model introduces a redesigned front fascia, complemented by clean, flowing body lines that give the seven-seat SUV a more modern and composed appearance. LED headlights provide a crisp lighting signature at the front, while the full-width LED rear light bar accentuates the vehicle’s breadth. The exterior is completed by 19-inch alloy wheels, which lend the Tiggo 8 APEX I a more confident, planted stance.

A 50 W wireless smartphone charger, dual-zone climate control and a 64-colour ambient lighting system further enhance the cabin environment.

Comfort is supported by electrically adjustable front seats, with six-way adjustment and four-way powered lumbar support for the driver. Both front seats are heated and ventilated, while the front passenger seat also features a massage function and a power-adjustable leg rest. A rear-operated “Boss” button allows second-row passengers to adjust the position of the front passenger seat.

The specification also includes a panoramic sunroof with an electrically operated sunshade and a power tailgate with smart-key operation, adding convenience during everyday use.

Safety is a central part of the Tiggo 8 APEX I package. The model is equipped with seven airbags, including side curtain airbags, as well as tyre-pressure monitoring, an anti-theft alarm and a speed-limit reminder.

A 540-degree high-definition camera system combines a conventional 360-degree overhead view with an underbody perspective. This gives the driver improved visibility when parking, negotiating confined spaces or travelling over uneven surfaces.

The Tiggo 8 APEX I also features a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. These include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance, together with additional active-safety functions designed to support the driver and reduce fatigue on longer journeys.

At 4,725 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,705 mm high, with a 2,710 mm wheelbase, the Tiggo 8 APEX I offers a substantial footprint and a spacious, family-oriented cabin.

The new model will be available in three exterior colours:

• Khaki White
• Carbon Black
• Bamboo Grey.

As with Chery South Africa’s wider model range, the Tiggo 8 APEX I is supported by a comprehensive ownership package comprising a seven-year/200,000 km vehicle warranty and a five-year/75,000 km service plan. The first owner also receives Chery’s 10-year/1 million km engine warranty.

The Tiggo 8 Apex l is also supported by Chery’s Trans-national Warranty Programme under the Chery Family Care umbrella. This allows customers to access warranty-related support at authorised Chery service centres across Chery’s global markets, providing added reassurance for owners who travel across borders or relocate internationally.

The new Chery Tiggo 8 APEX I is priced at R569,900.
